Using energy even more efficiently – this is a goal that drives companies of all sizes and industries. Under the motto “Franconia vernetzt sich II”, a total of 20 companies have now started cooperating in an energy efficiency network. The companies involved in the network, set up for an initial period of three years, have set themselves the aim of raising savings potential in operational practice and jointly extending the energy know-how of the members.
Werkzeugbau Siegfried Hofmann GmbH (Hofmann – Your Idea Creators) invited all participants to the kick-off and first working meeting in Lichtenfels. “We have all aspects of sustainable production firmly in view and place great emphasis on resource and climate-friendly processes in our innovations,” commented Managing Director Stefan Hofmann. “Our measures for environmental protection are recognised throughout the industry. In the energy efficiency network we want to find new inspiration and discover more about the practical solutions in other companies,” Hofmann continued.
The focus of these networks is concrete saving of energy on site and in everyday operations. The companies are now countering the often abstract climate debate with very concrete measures with which they can optimally use electricity, heat, cooling or compressed air in their production facilities. Examples include new lighting concepts, air conditioning, motor and pump modernisation and even simple changes in behaviour. The topic of energy efficiency is becoming a competitive factor for an increasing number of companies and also more important to their customers.
The aim is for the companies to achieve a long-term boost to energy efficiency and as a result a noticeable reduction in energy costs with regular network meetings. “The networks are ideally suited to bring about lasting improvements,” commented Jörg Meier from the energy supplier Eon, who is the moderator responsible for procedures in the newly established network in Franconia. “Communication with like-minded people gives rise to new ideas, inspiration and suggestions which in many cases are put into practice in everyday business,” the network expert explained.
The network is supported by Eon Energie Deutschland. The two other Group companies, Bayernwerk Natur and Eon Business Solutions, contribute additional expertise. The Munich-based Forschungsgesellschaft für Energiewirtschaft mbH (Research Institute for Energy Economics – FfE) is involved and provides energy technology consulting. The FfE analyses the status quo in the companies on site, formulates the desired efficiency improvements together with the companies and documents the annual progress. (ed)
